2019 CHESAPEAKE STATION SPRING CRUISE SCHEDULE
The “Traditional” Spring Cruise – Friday, May 17 to Sunday May 19
Early Bird Rendezvous - Thursday, May 16
“We Want More!” Rendezvous – Sunday, May 19
The Spring Cruise has historically been a Friday to Sunday event. Based on member feedback, Thursday and Sunday options have been added. If you prefer a longer spring cruise, please join us for either or both of those options and provide your Cruise Chair with some feedback for future planning. The game plan follows. A VHF Cruise Net will be held each morning at 0800 on VHF 1078 (old 78A) to announce any changes and to provide other info.
Thursday, May 16: Early Bird Rendezvous – Rendezvous on the Magothy River east of Holland Point in Eagle Cove. Raft up with others and/or make the rounds by dinghy. BYO food and drink. Drive up access will not be available.
Friday, May 17: Rum Keg Raft Up and Rendezvous – Rendezvous on the Rhode River between High and Big Islands. Contact CCA Cruise Chair by VHF or phone if needed. Drive-ins can park at TBD and be picked up on TBD. Rum Keg and CCA Open Bar provided beginning at 1700. Participants are requested to bring an hors d’oeuvre. Prizes awarded for Tastiest, Most Original and Best Reflection of Spring.
Saturday, May 18: Robert Goldsborough Henry, Jr. Race and BBQ Dinner – The Race will begin off the West River with 0955 warning. The Finish will be in the vicinity of St. Michaels on the Miles River. Sailing Instructions attached or on the CHE website. Cocktails and Dinner will be held beginning at 1800 at the Classic Motor Museum of St. Michaels, 102 E. Marengo St., featuring assorted hors d’oeuvres and CCA Open Bar, a Barbeque Buffet featuring BBQ Pork, Beef Brisket, sides and dessert. (THIS DINNER IS SOLD OUT AS OF 1700 HOURS ON FRIDAY, MAY 10th.) The museum is a short walk from the Public Dinghy Docks and the various harbor marinas.
Sunday, May 19: “We Want More” Rendezvous – Captain’s Choice – spend a leisurely day in St. Michaels or cruise the Miles, Wye and or Wye East Rivers and join the Rendezvous. Specific location on the Wye or off Eastern Bay will be announced during the BBQ Dinner and morning VHF cruise net at 0800. Raft up and/or dinghy around. BYO food and drinks. No drive up access will be available.
NOTE: Nellie Crockett has again offered to serve as our gathering spot afloat. Based on our 2018 Fall Cruise experience, any boats rafting with Nellie will be requested to break off before retiring. It is suggested that skippers anchor or raft with another willing skipper in daylight and dinghy to evening festivities.
